University Club of Chicago Rooftop: A Site Worth Seeing

B&A Helps University Club of Chicago Elevate Amenities

A client since the 1930s, the University Club of Chicago has engaged Bulley & Andrews to serve as construction manager for the Club’s latest project. Located at 76 E. Monroe, the private club is renovating the seventh floor and constructing a new, 12,000 square foot rooftop addition on top of the adjacent building at 30 S. Michigan.

In line with other rooftops trending along Michigan Avenue, such as those at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel and The Chicago Club, the new venue will provide members with commanding views of the lake and Millennium Park in a more relaxed social gathering space while maintaining the Club’s legendary elegance.

With construction well underway, B&A staff recently toured the site for an up close look at the multifaceted project. Project executive, Brendan Keane and project manager, Giacomo Tusa led the tour and provided an update on the project’s progress. Managing dynamic logistics, demolishing the existing roof, and maintaining existing elevator operations are just a few of the challenges B&A has artfully managed.

The tour also provided an opportunity for staff to observe, firsthand, the spectacular views of Millennium Park and the lakefront that await club guests when the rooftop opens in September.
